The Girl in the Iron Mask
My college roommate, Rebecca, came to visit Chicago this week. One of her most recent plays, The Girl in the Iron Mask, was stage read this Monday by a theater group in Chicago. The last time we saw each other was almost four years ago. It was great catching up with her. There was a lot of talking of course, if you know us. :)
The Girl in the Iron Mask is a variation of Dumas’ Man in the Iron Mask, with an interesting twist and a modern interpretation. Instead of a twin brother, Louis XIV has a twin sister, who poses as much threat and is as intensely driven to be the master of her own fate.
We will see a full production of the play next spring, in Chicago. Do you know why France has no Empresses? Are you curious what a twin sister can possibly do to the throne and might do with the throne? Come see the play, written by award-winning playwright Rebecca Nesvet. Or if you want to see any of the following: action, humor, drama, on stage, you don’t need to waste your time searching. You are right on with this one.
